About Us

Once a year Conversation Cafes and co-hosts organize a week when everyone, everywhere is invited to sit down in small groups to consider together the most important questions in the world today. We live in challenging and complex times. No one knows THE answer, but everyone holds a piece of the answer. You can say your piece during Conversation Week. We, and the world, will be all listening.

Tell Us About Your Conversation

conversationcafe | Uncategorized | Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Hosts and Guests,

The events of Conversation Week 2008 may be over, but not our conversation. Together we are engaged in a much larger work — changing the way people speak, listen and learn in these crucial times. Together we are shifting discourse from small talk to BIG talk everywhere and all the time.

Your next step is harvesting the brilliance of the people and ideas at your tables or online conversation spaces. Here’s how:

STEP 1: Tell Us About It

Blog - share at least one key insight from your conversation in the comments section of the blog post for the question you used. Read everyone else’s. Select your question from the list at right.

Survey - Click on the link for the survey (one for hosts, one for guests) to give us insights and feedback on your conversation. The surveys will be available until April 20. Early May we’ll report your findings and send a summary to world leaders. This is your Conversation Week. The insights and experiences are yours to share when, where and how you want.

STEP 2: Show Us

Photos — Please post pics of your Conversation Week group to our Flickr photo group or our Facebook Group. Make sure to tag your photos with “CW08″. If you’re unfamiliar with uploading photos to these sites, you can just email your photos to info@conversationcafe.org.

Video – While we don’t encourage you to film your entire Conversation Week dialogue, we would love to get video footage of your guests speaking their final round insights. Please post your videos to YouTube or Facebook. Again, please tag your videos with the keyword “CW08″ and send us a link.

Press – send us links to stories you get in your local or national news. We’ll post them on the Conversation Cafe site.

STEP 3: Keep the Conversation Going

Continue the conversation online through Global Mindshift - Coming soon instructions on how to participate in an online global dialogue about what we learned and how we want Conversation Week to evolve in service to shifting the way we speak, listen and learn in these complex times.

Email - If you can’t tell us everything via the survey (please try!) suggestions for making Conversation Week even better, offers to help, requests for help and more are welcome. Email: info@conversationcafe.org

Singing telegrams, essays, funny stories, covenants and… Invent your own way to express your experience of Conversation Week 08.

Keep asking the questions - the CW08 questions are for all year. Keep asking them at Conversation Cafes and in classrooms and more.

Volunteer - if you want to help the Conversation Cafe Initiative produce the next Conversation Week (or keep the initiative going all year long), let us know. We need host committee members, writers, web techies, hosts, organizers, mentors, publicity and marketing experts, media partners, organizational partners and innovators of every kind. Email us at: info at conversationcafe dot org.
